Meetings held on the second Wednesday of every month. Meeting at 103A Scott Street, Tye, TX.
- The Tye Chamber of Commerce was first organized in April of 1984. There were 57 members the first year. Bob Griffin owner of KTYE radio was the first president.
- The Chamber of Commerce took part in a beautification project in 1985 with the City of Tye. This was a four year project before Tye won the Keep Texas Beautiful 1st Place Governor’s Achievement Award in 1990.
- A scale model of the original Texas & Pacific Railroad depot was built and dedicated the spring of 1987. The original was built in 1907 and it was retired and destroyed in 1936. Some of the Pecos Valley red sand stones from the original depot were used to build the replica.
- Trees were planted by business persons, citizens, school teachers, and school children. The same people volunteered for many projects that led to the Chamber of Commerce receiving the award in 1985. The award included grants for $30,000.00 landscaping project done on the right of way Highway 707 and North Street in Tye. Tye Chamber of Commerce also received a grant to buy a Wood chipper and recycling bins for our Recycling Project.
- The Recycling Project included all the elementary school children.
- The Chamber in partership with TEDCO/TIDCO received a Texas Yes! match grant for two park benchs, planters, & receptacles, banners and brackets to advertise downtown, Tye.
- Officially July 1st, 2003 a new Chamber of Commerce – Tye, Texas was formed current President is Ross McKenzie with 32 members.
- This year the Chamber will co-sponsor the 4th Annual Tye Wheel Fest with the American Truck Historical Society on October 6, 2007at Rister Park-1300 Scott Street. Plan to be there!
